Harborview Market has been a beloved gem of the Black Rock neighborhood since as far back as the late 19th century. beginning as a purveyor of Swedish goods, morphing into a full scale grocery store and butcher shop. With the advent of large supermarkets and various change of owners, by the 1990's it had become at best, a rundown convenience store.
The Torres Family began its restoration in 1993. Over the years it has evolved into a casual breakfast and lunch eatery, serving gourmet coffee, homemade croissants and other baked goods, delicious soups and specialty catering.
Over the years, Harborview has won a number of accolades such as Best Breakfast, Best Lunch, and most recently, Best Cookie in the state by CT Magazine. The family, however, is most proud of Fairfield County Weekly's "Best Place to Dine Alone" Award because for the past 24 years as owners of Harborview Market, it has been so rewarding to watch the friendships and relationships that have been formed and cultivated here. For that reason it is truly The Original Social Network!
